Abstract
Chomsky’s just three out of ten strategies of manipulation
To understand it, within the Balkans, means to become media literate
Let us try to establish an analyses and outcomes for the appearance of media (il)literacy within the Balkans, and through it, of the most controversial, but extremely respected intellectual dissident in the last decade – Noam Chomsky, who has compiled a list of the ten most common and effective strategies resorted to by “hidden” agendas to establish a manipulation of the population through the media. Within the paper are listed only three strategies which is good enough to get the overall picture. The rest part of the circle can be found in my book “South-East Europe at the edge of civilization” published by Eurasia review, USA back in 2016. The strategy of distraction; Create problems and offer the solution and the gradual strategy are the ones that literary shows how far manipulation can go, even in the “civilized” world of XXI century. The ones who read, watch and listen to the media within the Bakans, are just absorbing the content on the basis of (il)literacy and not on the basis an interaction of knowledge and news. We have to teach us to read everything, watch everything and listen to everything (as much as we can) and then to make that the foundation for the final solution on the basis of interaction of the facts. It is easy to say; but very difficult to gain. Again, why? Language barriers, for example in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Croatia. While they do not need translators, they speak “different” languages. How will they then read, listen and watch other media from other areas? Even in North Macedonia.
